South Minds is a youth development organisation rooted in Ekurhuleni and serving the broader Kathorus area, including Katlehong, Thokoza and Vosloorus. We exist to provide young people with opportunities that strengthen their academic abilities, creative expression and leadership potential. Through our Debating League, annual debate tournaments, poetry and spelling events, as well as our dedicated learner tutoring programme, we offer a diverse range of platforms where learners can grow intellectually and socially. Our work is driven by experienced coaches, skilled tutors and accredited adjudicators who bring both expertise and passion into every programme we run. About South Minds
South Minds is an educational and creative development initiative operating in the heart of Ekurhuleni’s Kathorus region. Established to uplift and empower young people, the organisation provides structured programmes that promote critical thinking, academic support, cultural engagement and personal growth. Our offerings include a fully functional Debating League, debate tournaments, poetry competitions, spelling contests and a comprehensive tutoring service for learners who require additional subject support. These programmes are facilitated by a team of public speaking coaches, Experienced adjudicators and knowledgeable tutors who possess the experience and intellectual grounding needed to guide, mentor and inspire the youth we serve. At South Minds, we believe in creating inclusive, high‑impact learning environments that help young people develop their voice, strengthen their reasoning and realize their full leadership potential.
