Professor Jesse Mugisha Research Writing Isomo Academy Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Education Systems. Introduction The development of Artificial intelligence began in the 19th century, especially in the field of the Industrial Revolution where “there was the development of robots, which started to work in the way that human beings did” (Guruh Nuary). The evolution of machines that can work and think like human beings has begun to “expand vary enormously in the 20th century where the many machines were constructed on the behalf of human intervention” (Guruh Nuary), until now there are many AI tools such as chat GPT and others that can interfere with the human mind. Based on its ability to learn from the sources, AI is increasingly developing and changing different sectors, including education. Based on Research Gate’s research on AI in education, they suggested that the use of AI in education is expected to develop by offering both challenges and opportunities (38). This paper highlights the varied impacts of AI on our education system, examining how it affects students, teachers, and administrators, and what we hope for our future education with that AI. Based on the research of Adara and Haqiyah on how AI tools integrate our education system, especially for the administration system, they suggested that AI has been integrated into our educational systems worldwide, from AI-driven tutoring systems to administrative tools. Knowing the implications of AI in education requires a thorough examination of its benefits and potential drawbacks, some of the evidence that shows us whether AI in our education is needed or not are the following; Veronica Salido’s research, suggested that AI's role in personalized learning and student assessment has been widely studied (Veronica Salido ). This customized learning evaluates the students' capacity and provides them with the appropriate tasks based on their level of understanding. Another piece of evidence was suggested by Ilana Hamilton, who suggested that AI in educational administration has streamlined processes and improved efficiency (Ilana Hamilton). Besides this, some people may encounter the same ethical considerations about the use of AI in the education system such as Ethical concerns regarding AI in education emerging as its use becomes more widespread (Inna Nomerovska). This century there is an increase in the use of AI in education across the world, which raises different important questions about its impacts on student learning, teaching practices, and educational equity. According to the research made by the Keymark group in 2024, they suggested that at least 80% of schools around the world consider AI to be something that reduces the thinking capacity of the students rather than benefits them (23). This paper aims to explore these impacts and provide a balanced view of AI's role in the education system so that we can decide if we can continue to use AI-powered tools in our education. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the education system by enhancing personalized learning, increasing accessibility, and improving administrative efficiency, but it also raises concerns regarding equity, ethical considerations, and the evolving role of educators. The paper will begin by exploring the impact of AI tools on student performance, followed by their effects on school administration and teaching styles. The final section will discuss the prospects of AI in the future of our education system, including potential benefits and challenges. END OF MONDAY WORK Impact of AI on student performance. AI in the classroom has made a profound impact on student performance where it helps the students in personalized learning, assessment, and evaluation of their work. Studies and research show that “AI-driven tutoring systems can adapt to individual student's learning styles, improving outcomes “(View of Impact of AI in Education and Social Development Through Individual Empowerment, 2023). According to Inna Nomerovska’s research on the use of personalized learning in secondary school, AI in the education system facilitates personalizing learning styles, for example, AI-powered systems can generate customized lesson plans and assessments for each student, based on their unique learning abilities and needs. By tailoring instruction to each student's needs, AI helps bridge gaps in understanding and accelerates learning by focusing on the ability of the learners like the slow learners and brilliant students by empowering them to unlock their full potential and pursue their opportunities in their future career. By determining each student's unique strengths and weaknesses,” AI can then modify educational materials to better meet the needs of each student” (“Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Education,” 2023, pp. 3–5). Let's consider Grammarly and Turnitin as case studies, based on Hamilton’s work on how AI tools detect mistakes on paper, he suggested that these platforms offer students immediate feedback on their written work, these programs detect grammatical mistakes, enhance writing style, and detect plagiarism using natural language processing and machine learning approaches(67). Furthermore, “AI tools provide instant feedback on assignments to the students, allowing them to learn from their mistakes in real time” (“Research Gate,” 2023; Oseremi Onesi-Ozigagun). This means that immediate feedback reinforces learning and helps students to correct errors quickly, since “AI-powered tools and systems that can analyze student responses to quizzes, assignments, exams, and assessments in real-time so that it provides instant feedback on their performance” (Araujo and Kim). This helps students to understand their strengths and weaknesses, allowing them to focus on their studies where they need to improve or to improve. Moreover, “AI can track student progress over time, offering detailed insights into strengths and areas for improvement” (“The Impact of AI on Teaching and Learning,” 2024). This data-driven approach enables more targeted interventions, enhancing overall performance. For example, if the student is struggling with a particular concept or if students get low marks on a quiz or exam, the AI system can provide additional practice exercises or resources to help them or improve in his or her studies and if the student is excelling in a certain study, the system can provide more advanced materials to keep him or her engaged and challenged. Therefore, the ability of AI to personalize learning and provide real-time feedback significantly allows both students and teachers to have the best access to their content hence improving student performance, which also helps to deliver another impact of AI in different fields of education as we deliver in the students’performance. Using AI in the classroom, students can do their assignments and revisions with the help of the AI tools because they may offer support to students and engagement, better assessment and evaluation, and tailored learning. As I said above, Inna Nomerovska's research shows that artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to revolutionize education by streamlining the teaching and learning process through personalized learning algorithms. Apart from personalized learning, AI encourages teachers to use innovative teaching methods such as blended learning and flipped classrooms to motivate and encourage the students to understand their content. Gamified AI learning platforms have been shown to increase student motivation (Hamilton, 2024). These gamified AI tools make learning more interactive and enjoyable, and those AI tools foster a more engaging educational experience. AI their progress and identify powered interactive learning platforms that can incorporate multimedia elements, simulations, and gamified activities to make lessons more dynamic and immersive, these platforms give real-time feedback to students by allowing them to track their progress. Another thing about AI is that it allows “adaptive learning systems to adjust the difficulty of tasks based on student performance, keeping students challenged and motivated” (“Keymakr,” 2024). This ensures that students remain engaged without becoming overwhelmed or bored because when the students feel that they know they start to get bored, so here AI brings the challenging questions to those students to make sure that they are motivated. Then “AI can create personalized learning paths that align with students' interests, further boosting engagement” (“Keymakr,” 2024). When students see the relevance of their learning, they are more likely to stay motivated and feel that they have to do more which leads them to try as they can so that they can succeed in their courses. Therefore the capacity of AI in the student's performance is to create engaging and adaptive learning environments that contribute to better student outcomes, making it an essential tool in modern education by providing them many ways to develop their innovative skills. The use of AI in education systems enables collaborative learning and peer interaction in classrooms. According to the research made by Hamilton on the impact of AI on student collaboration, he suggested that AI-driven collaborative platforms allow students to work together on projects, regardless of physical location (“Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Education,” 2023). these platforms enhance communication and teamwork skills, which are crucial for success in the modern world and also those platforms help the students to work as a team so that they can achieve their goals together rather than do it individually. Moreover, AI tools can facilitate peer assessment and feedback, promoting a culture of collaboration (“Research Gate,” 2023). According to Nahar, we can determine that Peer feedback helps students learn from each other and fosters a sense of community, let's take an example of group work, the AI system can ground students based on their grades and give them their best-fit work so that they can collaborate and develop with each other in those groups. AI can identify group dynamics and suggest optimal groupings for collaborative work. By optimizing group interactions, AI ensures that cooperative learning is effective and productive, and also on that ground, it can provide the questions or tasks that require collaboration together hence increasing the collaboration within them. In other words, the role of AI in our education systems especially in the students' performance includes fostering collaboration among students which enhances the educational experience, making it a valuable asset in the classroom also AI encourages teachers to use innovative teaching methods such as blended learning and flipped classrooms to motivate and encourages the students to understand their contents with personalized learning in the class which help the students. Impact of AI on school administration management Besides the impact of AI on the student's performance, also AI has an impact on school administration management, where it helps in automated grading, improves school resource management, and enhances data-driven decision-making and attendance tracking. By starting on how it facilitates school staff. AI assists teachers and other school staff in creating automated grading and attendance tracking. It has been discovered that “AI-powered systems reduce the time and effort required for grading, freeing up teachers to focus on instruction” (Mureșan, 2023). This is done by automating routine tasks in which AI allows educators to spend more time on student engagement and curriculum development. This is because teachers will use AI to identify the patterns and the more techniques they can use to make sure that their courses are understandable to every student. Also, according to the report generated by Mureșan on how routine AI tools work, he suggested that “AI-based attendance systems are more accurate and efficient than traditional methods” (Mureșan, 2023). This can be explained based on its ability where accurate attendance tracking ensures better management of student participation and reduces the absence of the students, where using AI can make attendance of a million students in one second but the traditional method of taking attendance takes a long time and is not effective. Moreover, “AI can identify patterns in student attendance, helping schools address potential issues early” (Mureșan, 2023). Based on early intervention, AI can prevent the absence of students and improve overall student outcomes by checking regularly the students who attended the class, AI can give feedback to the teachers about the students who missed the class, and who did not participate well so that they can take the conclusion on that information provided by AI such as robots. Therefore, based on the above information, the role of AI in automating grading and attendance tracking enhances the efficiency of school administration, allowing educators to focus on student success, and encourages the teachers to track the attendance of the students in the class and how they participated in their courses. Additionally, AI improves school resource management, including student enrollment and scheduling. The research shows us that “AI-driven platforms offer instant feedback on student performance, allowing teachers to adjust instruction accordingly” (Jones & Martinez, 2023). Based on real-time feedback, which enables more responsive and effective teaching in the class and the management of the students using AI can enable instant feedback which contributes to students' performance scheduling. Furthermore, “these AI systems can efficiently manage student enrollment, predicting and balancing class sizes to optimize resource allocation” (Smith, 2022). By forecasting enrollment trends, AI helps schools maintain balanced class sizes, ensuring that resources such as classrooms and teachers are utilized effectively, AI also helps to monitor student achievement, which is especially important for time management and scheduling. In fact, “AI algorithms can generate optimized class schedules that accommodate teacher availability and student course preferences” (Brown, 2021). This Optimized scheduling reduces conflicts, enhances student satisfaction, and maximizes the effective use of school resources, also scheduling allows the school administrators to know exactly if the students and teachers are in class on time so that they can manage them. Therefore, the ability of AI to streamline resource Management in schools, from enrollment to scheduling, leads to more efficient and effective educational environments, paving the way for data-driven decision-making. Sequential, AI enhances data-driven decision-making for school administrators and teachers analytics “provide comprehensive insights into student performance data, helping administrators identify trends and make informed decisions” (Kamalov, 2023). These data-driven insights allow for targeted interventions and policy adjustments set by the school or the government, leading to improvement in students’ outcomes. Also, those platforms called data-driven decision-making allow the administrators to track the performance the progress of the students so that they can help them know how to help them based on their analytical data provided by the AI tools. In other words, “AI tools can predict the impact of potential policy changes, giving administrators a clearer understanding of the outcomes before implementation” (Miller & Davis, 2022). Based on predictive analytics which reduces the risk of unintended consequences and improves the effectiveness of school policies due to the analysis of the research data AI helps them to predict the future impact which is very needed in the administration plan, especially in the planning of timetable and curriculum. Despite this, as mentioned by European institutions of science which aim to investigate every corner of technology, they suggested that AI enables continuous monitoring of educational initiatives, allowing for real-time adjustments to improve effectiveness (10). In progress of data collection and analysis ensures that policies and programs remain relevant and effective, promoting sustained improvements in education quality, by assisting the teachers to continuously track their behavior and their marks. In conclusion, the role of enhancing data-driven decision-making empowers educators and administrators to make informed choices that positively impact the educational experience. Impact of AI on the Teaching Style Furthermore, AI assists teachers by giving them real-time feedback and classroom management tools. Based on the research published by the research gate on the capability of AI to solve complex data, the capacity and the decision-making of AI-powered tools that offer instant feedback on students’ work (45)This approach helps teachers address learning gaps as they arise leading to more effective teaching, because AI-powered adaptive learning systems analyze student progress and data to identify individual learning needs and preferences, allowing educators to tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of their students. Also AI systems “can monitor classroom dynamics and suggest adjustments to improve student engagement” (Clark, 2022). Based on the algorithm, AI helps create a more conducive learning environment by optimizing classroom management. For example, AI can create tutoring to make students understand the content and be interested in it. Equally important to that, AI platforms “can automate routine tasks, freeing up time for teachers to focus on personalized instruction” (Adams, 2021). This automation reduces administrative burdens, allowing teachers to devote more time to direct student interaction. For instance, the automation grading reduces the time that teachers can spend on the assignment and also the automation attendance saves the time of writing by using the other methods. In Conclusion, The integration of AI into the classroom provides teachers with powerful tools for real-time feedback and management, enhancing the overall teaching and learning experience by saving the time that teachers can spend on the assignment and the attendance of the students in the class. Likewise, AI encourages teachers to use innovative teaching methods such as blended learning and flipped classrooms. Based on the different research of different scientists, “AI-driven learning platforms support blended learning models by offering online resources that complement in-class instruction” (Taylor, 2023). In other words, Blended learning allows students to engage with material both in and out of the classroom, promoting a more flexible and personalized learning experience, because this blended learning allows students to learn via electronic devices and the internet as if they are with a teacher, hence increasing the flexibility of the students. According to Harris’s research in 2021 on the role of AI in the facilitating of flipped learning and blended learning, he found that flipped classroom models, supported by AI, enable students to learn new content at their own pace, with class time dedicated to application and discussion (22). This approach shifts the focus from passive reception to active learning, which enhances student understanding and engagement, because the AI models help the students learn the content before the class, leading students to better understand the contents by Flipped classroom models. “Those AI tools facilitate differentiated instruction, allowing teachers to tailor content to diverse learning styles” (Nelson, 2021). Differentiated instruction helps meet the needs of all students ensuring that each learner has the opportunity to succeed because the teachers make sure that all the students are capable of what they are teaching with the help of the AI models which redesign the content. Therefore AI-driven innovations like blended learning and flipped classrooms are transforming traditional teaching methods, fostering more interactive and student-centered education. Finally, AI challenges traditional teaching roles, requiring teachers to adapt to the new technological tools. This is the most powerful resource for teachers because “the introduction of AI in the classroom demands that teachers develop new skills to integrate technology effectively Into their pedagogy” (Cardona, 2023). As AI becomes more prevalent, teachers must continually update their skills to remain effective in their roles. Moreover, “AI changes the teacher's role from a sole knowledge provider to a facilitator of learning, guiding students through AI-driven content” (Cardona, 2022). This shift requires teachers to focus more on mentoring and less on direct instruction, fostering a more collaborative learning environment. also, “The use of AI in education can create dependency on technology, challenging teachers to balance its benefits with the need for critical thinking and creativity” (Williams, 2021). This is in other to be done, Teachers must ensure that while technology enhances learning, it does not replace essential human elements in education because the use of AI in education can lead to job displacement like teachers can lose their jobs because of the development of AI tools. Therefore, the role of AI in the integration into education challenges traditional teaching roles which push educators to adapt and evolve to maintain their effectiveness in an increasingly digital landscape. Future Prospects of AI in Education Conversely, AI will continue to revolutionize and modernize personalized learning, making education more tailored to individual needs. In 2023 Thomson developed crucial research on personalized learning where he highlighted that in the future AI algorithms will analyze vast amounts of data to create highly personalized learning experiences for each student (20). Personalized learning will increase student engagement and success by catering to individual learning styles and needs by advanced because we hope that in the future the world will be modernized by technology. Moreover, “The continuous development of AI will lead to more experienced adaptive learning platforms that adjust in real-time to student progress” (Lee, 2022). As AI becomes more advanced, it will further enhance the ability to provide customized education pathways for students and the teacher's ability will be related to the AI content and explanation which will lead to the many personalized learning techniques and gamified activities that will all bring students together to collaborate. Smith who worked on the role of the technology to the development of technology in the development of special education, suggested that AI will enable the development of more precise and effective educational interventions for students with learning disabilities (21). AI will continue to revolutionize and modernize personalized learning, making education more tailored to individual needs based on the student's ability. AI will be able to take students with disabilities to train them based on their abilities. “The integration of AI with trustable technology will provide real-time biometric feedback that can be used to optimize learning conditions” (Garcia, 2022). By monitoring factors such as stress levels and focus, AI can help create optimal learning environments for each student by doing the biometric test on each student to measure the stress, weakness, and strength of the students. Also, Ryan suggested that AI will facilitate more global and collaborative learning opportunities, connecting students from around the world (22). Global collaboration will expose students to diverse perspectives, enriching their educational experience and preparing them for a connected world, through the sharing of the content across the different countries which will unite the students across the world to have the same understanding on the same chapters. The continued evolution of AI will not only personalize learning but also integrate it with emerging technologies, creating a more immersive and connected educational experience. And AI in education promises to offer opportunities for more inclusive and effective education. Ethical consideration, awareness, and equity issues will crucially need to be addressed as AI becomes more prevalent in education. “The widespread use of AI in education raises concerns about data privacy and the security of student information” (Ryan, 2022). Protecting student data is essential to maintaining trust in AI systems and ensuring that their use is ethical and safe because the more they use the AI the more the lever of thing capacity is reduced. “AI can modify existing inequalities if access to AI-driven tools and resources is not evenly distributed” (Smith, 2023). Ensuring equitable access to AI technologies is critical to preventing a digital divide that could further disadvantage underserved populations due to different capabilities to access it because of poverty and lack of the internet. According to the report generated by Ryan in 2021 on how AI makes and improves decision-making based on the analysis the complex data, he suggested that the ethical implications of AI decision-making in education, such as biases in algorithms, must be carefully considered and addressed (34). Ethical AI practices are necessary to ensure that all students receive fair and unbiased educational opportunities because the students who are interested in using the AI tools can harass the poor students who are the same age which can create division among the students and even among the teacher or school administrators. As AI becomes more integral to education, it is vital to address ethical considerations and ensure that its benefits are accessible to all, promoting a fair and equitable educational landscape. Conclusion. The integration of AI into our education presents both opportunities and challenges that must be carefully navigated so that we can maximize its benefits while minimizing potential drawbacks regarding the impacts it has on students. In conclusion, the research has navigated the potential impact of AI tools in the different fields of education such as student performance, teaching methodology, school administration, and its future prosperity in our education. We have seen that AI is revolutionizing and developing our education system by enhancing personalized learning, improving administrative efficiency, and offering innovative teaching methods to teachers. However, it also raises different significant concerns regarding equity, ethics, and the evolving role of teachers and school administrators, where we have seen that Personalized learning has the most potential for the development of our education and the involvement of the teacher in this type of technology is the best ethical concerns about the use of AI in our schools. Therefore, As we move forward, it is crucial to strike a balance between embracing AI's potential and addressing the ethical and practical challenges it presents. Hence Ethical considerations such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, and equitable access must be addressed to ensure AI's responsible and inclusive implementation in our education education. The future of our education depends on our ability to tackle AI responsibly and effectively, ensuring that it serves the needs of all students and educators so that we can continue to benefit from the capability and the ability of AI tools in the different fields of work not only education but also others institution that share hand to hand with our education system.
