Failure to adhere to these codes of conduct are grounds for dismissal from the league* The following code of conduct outlines a philosophy that is paramount to the game of Football and must be emphasized in combination with skill development and style of play. Football is a sport that belongs to the Student Athlete. It is a game that offers physical challenges, emotional satisfaction, and lifelong values and experiences for those who play. Within this context, all members of our organization are expected to dedicate themselves to upholding the highest standards of conduct and competence. Sportsmanship and ethical values highlighting respect, fairness, civility, honesty, integrity and accountability are a foundation for the sports. Coaches are expected to prioritize the mental and physical welfare of their players above all else.

JDYFL is a volunteer organization and its operations depend on the support of our members and guests.

Members will: • Student Athletes will participate fully in all practice and game activities unless such activity is restricted through parental consultation with the coach • Always display good sportsmanship on and off the field • Student Athlete must wear appropriate protective equipment to all practices and games. • Treat all coaches, officials, parent volunteers, teammates, and opposing members in a respectful manner • Support and encourage the personal development and skill development of all Student Athletes • Inform coaches of any Student Athlete injury sustained prior to or during practices and games • Follow the chain of command for all communication and report any concerns to their acting Area Representative to bring to the attention of the Board of Directors of JDYFL as needed. • Teach and practice good sportsmanship at all JDYFL events • Show interest, enthusiasm, and support for all members in a respectful manner by being a positive role model and exhibiting role model behavior • Report any special medical or behavioral needs of a student athlete to the coach • Remain in the spectator area during games unless member has proper JDYFL credential that allow access to the field or they are a student athlete • Treat all players (including opposing players), coaches, officials, parents, and spectators in a respectful manner; *

Members will not: • Use threatening, profane or obscene language or gestures at any time at any JDYFL event either on or off the field of play • Bait, taunt, call undue attention to oneself, or commit any other act considered unsportsmanlike during practices or games; • Enter into an argument with an official as to any decision that has been made or in any way attempt to influence the decision of an official • Engage in fighting during games or practices. Fighting is defined as a member deliberately striking or attempting to strike anyone in a malicious manner. A member fighting during any JDYFL sanctioned event (regardless of who starts the fight) shall be disqualified from participating in the remainder of that event and any subsequent JDYFL events for a minimum of the following scheduled game. The Board of Directors of JDYFL will review incidents with officials and will impose suspensions and penalties as appropriate, up to and including full removal from the organization. • Entrance to the field of play or sidelines during practices or games without proper JDYFL credentials will be subject to immediate removal from the stadium or field of play by officials, board members, or hosting area representative/field marshal. • Ignore coaching directives or verbally/behaviorally respond to coaches, parent volunteers, teammates or opposing players in a disrespectful manner • Engage in coaching unless they have completed the required training and obtained JDYFL credentials (this includes helpful comments from the sidelines) • Make derogatory or aggressive comments or gestures, verbally or written, to players, coaches, officials, board members, or spectators in any form of communication, to include text, emails, phone calls, or social media platforms. • Consume or be under the influence of alcohol or any drugs at any JDYFL event • Uses Tobacco and/or electronic smoking devices at all JDYFL events • Interfere with the discipline of players during practices or games. • Talk down to any members or emotionally or physically denigrate members; *

Any violation of this Code of Conduct may, at the sole discretion of the President or Board of Directors of JDYFL, result in the reprimand of the student athlete, or the suspension or expulsion of the Student Athlete and/or other member from JDYFL practices, games and/or events (including post-season and subsequent seasons).
