We are trying to open a bar/ restaurant space in the previous Forest Point space. Let me introduce myself. I am Megan, owner of Someday Bar in Boerum Hill Brooklyn. I am an executive board member of the NYC Hospitality Alliance and on the Small Business Council for NYC. When we had 50 broken street lights on Atlantic Avenue I pushed DOT to get them working after women were attacked at 11pm on a Thursday. I want to add to this neighborhood. I want to create a vibrant community space that has respect for the neighborhood but also clean up this space that has been ignored for years and has been a site for dumping, and dangerous activities. We host over 20 fundraisers a year at my place that donate to animal fosters, queer events, women's shelters and we are still growing our list. My partner Gerry owned a place in LES for a decade with an outdoor space and had no issues with neighbors or community boards. He currently owns a bar in Sunnyside where it is beloved by the whole neighborhood despite being a very residential area. We both know how to work and contribute to our community and are asking for signatures of support to show the local community board that we are wanted.
