Our faculty and staff are available to help match your skills and availability to the jobs that need to be done to keep the school running at its best. In addition, please check the weekly newsletters and classroom postings for jobs or classroom supply donations needing urgent attention. Teachers can often provide ideas for jobs if you are having trouble fulfilling your minimum hours, and we encourage parents to take the initiative and suggest a task or project they would like to take on to improve the school.

As a parent-cooperative school, many CAL parents gladly volunteer as they know that their contributions enrich the learning experience and the sense of community at our school. We understand parents may be unable to fulfill their volunteer commitment. In these instances, a $100 fee will be assessed after the last day of school in lieu of the 12-hour service commitment. Incomplete service hours will be charged at a rate of $8/hour. This is not intended to dissuade parent involvement, but is simply an alternative to completing the family service hour requirement. The fees collected will support the CAL scholarship. We count on everyone feeling a sense of ownership in the school and a desire to do more than the minimum to make it even more of a wonderful environment for our children. Outside of the volunteer hours, parents are still asked to support and participate in key events and projects with teachers and in our fundraising efforts. Attendance at these events or donations to drives/fundraising initiatives do not count towards service hours.
