Scholarship Application Instructions

INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE REVIEWED FOR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD, FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS AND MAKE SURE APPLICATION IS FILLED OUT COMPLETELY!

Eligibility Requirements:

This scholarship is offered every year by the Merced County Chapter of CWA to a qualified student who is planning on attending a accredited university/community college or trade school.

 The definition of "FARM WORKER" - A person who labors in the fieldwork, production, and/or manufacturing of agricultural products. This definition DOES NOT INCLUDE anyone who is employed as an office worker (clerical, technical, sales), or DOES NOT INCLUDE anyone who is a partner/owner of such an agricultural company or livestock ranch.

1.    A student who is a graduating Merced County high school senior (Class of 2025)

2.    A child of a current farm worker as defined above are eligible

3.    Any Recognized field of study (major) is acceptable

4.    Minimum average GPA of 2.5 in the last 5 semesters

Application Requirements: ∙

Complete the application and submit a current photo of student:

Copy of official high school transcript (Official Transcript DOES NOT need to be sealed, please scan and submit a copy)

List of Activities: List on a sheet applicant's campus and community activities, organizations, honors, and/or special awards received.

Letter from you stating applicant's educational and career goals not covered in the application or other information deemed important in representing qualifications, no longer than two pages

Two letters of recommendation must include:

One from a school principal, counselor, or instructor; and

One from a person in the community.

The letters MUST include the person's signature, contact information, position in the school or community, and their relationship with the applicant (MUST NOT be a relative or personal friend).                        

The letters should provide information about the applicant's character, scholastic or technical ability, leadership, citizenship, and financial need.
