WOMEN ARE SACRED CONFERENCE
July 29-31, 2025
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Baird Convention Center
Committed to Our Relatives: Tradition in Our Hearts, Future in Our Hands
The Women are Sacred (WAS) Conference is one of the nation’s earliest and largest gatherings of Tribal domestic violence programs, advocates, survivors, tribal community members, tribal leadership, law enforcement, and tribal court personnel dedicated to ending violence against Native women and communities. WAS provides tremendous training opportunities for both established and emerging Indigenous leaders and experts in the movement to end violence. The conference consists of training sessions, presentations, workshops, and keynote addresses on various topics focused on increasing the capacity of tribal Nations, domestic violence programs, and community-based programs to provide effective services, including intervention and prevention strategies. We expect more than 600 attendees at this year’s event.
We cordially invite you to submit your workshop proposal to join the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center (NIWRC) from July 29–31, 2025, at the Baird Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the Women Are Sacred (WAS) Conference—one of the nation’s most transformative gatherings for Tribal leaders, advocates, survivors, and allies working to end violence against Native women and communities.
This year’s theme, “Committed to Our Relatives: Tradition in Our Hearts, Future in Our Hands,” reflects the heart of NIWRC’s mission: honoring the sacred role of Native women as changemakers and protectors in leading efforts to build safer, stronger Tribal communities.
