You are invited to participate in a research study conducted for an AP Research project. The purpose of this study is to examine how film culture and online film communities influence perceptions of masculinity in contemporary media.
Participation in this survey is voluntary and anonymous. No identifying information such as names, email addresses, or student ID numbers will be collected. You may skip any question or withdraw from the survey at any time without penalty.
This survey will take approximately 10–15 minutes to complete. By continuing with this survey, you must indicate that you are at least 14 years old and consent to participate in this study.
Definitions:
Film-Bro: An internet based culture typically stereotyped by a predominantly mostly male audience, who claims and glorifies certain directors, films, or genres, while having a surface level gasp of mainstream movies, and are typically close-minded when it comes to other cultured films.
Toxic Masculinity: Different types of behaviour, norms, and character traits that usually associate with traditional ideas of masculinity, “expectation of men”, feeling entitled to engage in violence against women.
