The Sheldon Independent School District offers a limited number of inter-district transfers for children who do not live within the boundaries of Sheldon ISD. Transfers are approved based on the transfer guidelines listed below and Board Policy FDA (LOCAL).
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
• Student must be in good standing regarding attendance, discipline, and grades in the current district.
• Students must be in grades pre-kindergarten through 12.
(Pre-K students who reside outside Sheldon ISD and are not the children of employees will be charged tuition.)
Child of a full time employee: The full time employee must be the parent the child lives with and:
1. Is listed as a parent on the birth certificate
2. Be legally married to the parent listed on the birth certificate of the student and lives with the student or
3. Be the permanent legal guardian through a court order with whom the student resides.
*Please note- Limited Open Enrollment is not open to students under a power of attorney, a guardianship form, or who are in foster care. Applications must be completed by the parent or legal guardian (under a court order) of the student.

SCHOOL RECORDS- These documents must be uploaded as part of this application.
• Most recent report card (K-12)
• Attendance records (K-12)
• Discipline records (K-12)
• Transcripts (8-12)
*** A birth certificate is required for Pre-K and Kindergarten students
LIMITATIONS
Applications are approved based on the following limitations:
• Space Availability, Program Availability, Academic Performance, Attendance (including tardies) and Student Discipline
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Returning Transfer Students- All transfer applications and documents must be received in the Student Services Office between April 1st and April 30th preceding the year of the requested transfer.
• New employees must submit applications within 30 days of employment.
• All required documentation must be submitted to the Student Services Department before your application will be processed.
APPLICATION PROCESS
The Transfer Committee:
• Reviews applications that have been submitted within required timelines.
• Reviews each application to ensure all required documents are included (incomplete applications will not be considered).
• Analyzes all transfer documents to determine eligibility.
• Evaluates the district's available space and resources.
• Prioritizes applications based on Board Policy FDA(LOCAL).
• Submits recommendations for final approval.
• Notifies applicant of approval or denial.
